Plot summary
A young Anne Frank fan travels by rail across Europe to historical sites, posting her thoughts and pictures on Instagram and hashtagging key phrases. She begins at a secluded, tree-surrounded spot that is revealed as the former Bergen-Belsen camp, and her journey ends in a detailed reconstruction of Anne Frank's hiding room in Amsterdam. There, a narrator reads from Frank's diary. The film interweaves Frank's story with testimonies from five women who survived the Holocaust as girls. Close to Frank's age during World War II, they appear with their children and grandchildren, and their recollections create parallels between their past and the present.
