Plot summary
Ruby Lin designs children's toys in Los Angeles and has flown to Hong Kong on business for the first time. Outside a bar, she tries to reach friends by phone, but her phone carries no GPS and she cannot find the way. Josh Rosenberg, an American living in Hong Kong, overhears and offers to walk her to the meeting place. Along the streets the two fall into conversation: Josh has a job in finance but wants to write a novel, and Ruby urges him to quit and do it. When they arrive, Ruby proposes skipping her friends for a drink with him instead.
