Plot summary
Charlie Brenner, a college dropout, lives at home with his mother, his stepfather Ross and his brother Steven and manages a small movie theater. He falls for Amber, who pours coffee at a shop near him; she shares a place with her cousin Jack, has been with the track star Brad since early in high school, and plans to start at NYU in the fall. His friend Heather picks him up one evening and urges him to attend a party with people from their old high school. Charlie's estranged father, Howard, then turns up and talks his way into staying.
