Plot summary
Laura Drake is a thirty-year-old emotionally disturbed woman who cleans houses for her father's company in the city. She carries the weight of past abuse and failed intimate encounters, and she longs for a lover and a stable life. On a job she meets Eva, a sixteen-year-old pianist whose mother dictates the life ahead of her. The two form an unexpected connection. Laura, seeking closeness, persuades Eva to leave her mother and move into her home. For Laura, Eva becomes a beacon of hope and an obsession. Eva's unhappiness and Laura's need for attachment pull them into an intense entanglement.
