Plot summary
Fifteen years ago, five-year-old Jamie Garrett disappeared from her home, and the Christmas-obsessed neighborhood turned the case into a holiday legend, trading explanations that ranged from Krampus to kidnapping. The girl's mother became a recluse, her house went dark, and local children told the story as a bedtime tale. Now a twenty-two-year-old student named Rachel Kimmel comes home for Christmas. The offbeat Mrs. Garrett, emerging from her seclusion, invites Rachel over, set on a holiday to remember, and the invitation stirs Rachel's memories of the missing girl. Meanwhile a masked figure in a Santa suit stalks the winter streets, and Rachel, her two best friends and Mrs. Garrett's decorated home all lie in his path.
