Plot summary
Hell's Kitchen, New York City, is where Claude, a tomboy teenage girl, lives with her divorced mother through the summer vacation. Ellen is her best friend, and Claude's plan is for the two of them to start a band. Ellen begins dating Mark, and the band plan is set aside. Both of them are part of the youth subculture of the 1990s around them, which includes drugs, live music and homophobia. Over that summer Claude goes through a period of sexual discovery, and she comes to recognize her attraction to women. One night a violent death shakes the lives of Claude and Ellen.
