Plot summary
Artie Logan arrives as a new student at Fairfield college, where Tally Fuller, the campus's most popular and beautiful girl, at last agrees to go out with him. That night a maniac wielding a blowtorch kills her, and the police arrest Artie for a murder he did not commit. The officers on the case reject his account, but detective P.J. Decker believes him. Over his colleagues' protests, Decker gives Artie 24 hours to find whoever really killed Tally.
