Plot summary
In the distant past, Ean is cut off from her own time. She needs the Divine Sword to open the gate of time, and she is also trying to stop alien prisoners from breaking out of the human bodies that hold them. Muruk, who has pulled her out of trouble before, is unsettled by a presence he senses inside himself. Both of them are hunted: two mages from Samgaksan, a blind swordsman named Neung-pa who wants the sword for his own eyes, and Ja-jang, who wants it too. In the present, deaths are caused by a haava, an alien substance, and Min Gaelin, a witness, looks into what happened. Ean has 48 minutes to open the gate of time and return to the future.
