Plot summary
Detective Matt Sikes and his partner George Francisco work Los Angeles cases that involve the Tenctonese, an alien race stranded on Earth and known as Newcomers. The two are called in when a girl who appears part Tenctonese and part human is brought into the precinct. A large, brutish counterpart of the girl attempts to free her from custody. The case leads them to a scientist who is crossbreeding the two species. In a separate thread, Sikes grows closer to his neighbor Cathy Frankel, a Tenctonese doctor, and the two attend lessons in preparation for becoming intimate. Buck, meanwhile, distresses his parents with his anti-human opinions.
