Plot summary
Manuel, sixteen, moves through a Rome smothered by fires and blackouts, sent to a party where a minister is to be filmed and incriminated. Inside, he spots hidden cameras and runs. Vasco, the corrupt policeman who handed him the errand for paying clients, hunts him. Manuel reaches Polniuman, a blind former member of the Magliana gang and a friend of his father Daytona, who hides him and sends him on to Cammello, another old acquaintance of that circle, released from prison on grounds of terminal illness. Cammello means to spend his last days with his wife and turns the boy away.
