Clerville, in the 1960s. Diabolik is a thief whose real identity nobody knows. Word reaches him that heiress Eva Kant is coming to the city with a famous pink diamond, and that she is dating Giorgio Caron, the deputy minister of justice. Diabolik puts on one of his masks and passes himself off as Inspector Ginko to make Eva tell him which hotel she will use. In another disguise he joins the staff looking after her room and locates the hidden safe that holds the jewel. Seeing Eva for the first time, he is drawn to her.
