Plot summary
Carmen is a housewife in Madrid, married to Carlos, a rude construction worker who ignores her and their teenage daughter Toñi. At a wedding, her cousin Pepe, a supermarket security guard and amateur hypnotist, performs a hypnosis act. Carlos interrupts to mock him but ends up affected. He briefly holds Pepe at knifepoint while everyone thinks it is a joke. The next day, Carlos begins having lapses where he acts like a loving, charismatic, intelligent man. Carmen is shocked, then gradually delighted by the change. When the new personality has brief but dangerous psychotic episodes, she grows alarmed and seeks answers. She turns to Pepe and his hypnotism teacher, Dr. Fumetti, an odontologist, for help.
