Plot summary
Orville, the oldest child at the Hideaway Orphans Home, climbs into a truck bound for a top-secret laboratory, where Lester is told to watch him while supplies are loaded onto an experimental rocket. Orville throws the ignition switch, and the ship blasts off with the two aboard, coming down near New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Believing they have reached Mars, they put on spacesuits and walk the streets, taking the costumed crowds for Martians. Two escaped convicts, Harry and Mugsy, find the rocket and rob a bank in the same suits; Lester and Orville are blamed for the crime and flee back to the ship, where the crooks order a launch and demand to be flown to Mars.
