Plot summary

Professor Barbenfouillis, president of the Astronomy Club, proposes an expedition to the Moon at a meeting of its members. After some dissent, five other astronomers, Nostradamus, Alcofrisbas, Omega, Micromegas and Parafaragaramus, agree to the plan. A capsule shaped like a bullet is built, and a huge cannon is made to fire it into space. The astronomers embark, and marines help fire the cannon. As the capsule nears the Moon, the Man in the Moon watches it.
