A Thousand Desires Like These (2003) on Netflix

Plot summary

Three students share a college in Delhi in the 1970s, as India goes through the Emergency: Siddharth Tyabji, Geeta Rao and Vikram Malhotra. Siddharth is a revolutionary who wants to change Bihar, where caste-based discrimination denies people social justice, and Naxalite rhetoric is his language. Geeta has come from London and has led a sheltered life; she loves Siddharth and finds his politics attractive, yet she is unsure she can commit to it wholeheartedly, and whenever a choice comes he takes his ideology over her. Vikram is a middle-class boy who wants to make it big whatever it costs and who sees his father's Gandhian ways as ineffective. He loves Geeta without any return and resents Siddharth. Then Siddharth leaves for Bihar, Geeta for Oxford and Vikram opens an office in Delhi.
