Plot summary
Bittoo Sharma studies in Delhi and will not go home to work in his family's sugar-cane fields. He approaches Shruti Kakkar, a career-minded wedding planner based in Janakpuri, and asks to join her. She refuses to have anything to do with him, but he impresses her, and the two set up Shaadi Mubarak. Their early jobs are small wedding celebrations for lower middle-class families, mostly in the Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi, and the pair work with a struggling caterer and a struggling florist. Bittoo and Shruti then persuade a wealthy couple to hand them their first big wedding contract, at Sainik Farm, where the rich and famous of Delhi marry.

- Mumbai-native Ranveer Singh, a complete newcomer with no prior acting or modelling experience, impressed producer Aditya Chopra at his first audition and was cast as the male lead, signing a three-film contract.
- During an early morning shoot in West Delhi's Subhash Nagar, Ranveer Singh's newcomer status had onlookers speculating he was Ranbir Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey or Riteish Deshmukh, and police were called in to secure the set from the crowd.
- Band Baaja Baaraat was the first film to rest mainly on Anushka Sharma's shoulders, unlike Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Badmaash Company, where she shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor.
- While promoting the film, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma confronted a passenger on Kingfisher Airlines flight IT 331 on 26 October 2010 who allegedly took unsolicited photographs; police intervened on landing in Delhi and no complaints were filed.
