Plot summary
Claudia works as a trial attorney and is angling to become the first woman to make partner at her firm, and she is convinced her life is just right. The day before her family's Thanksgiving gathering, her sister asks her to bring a homemade apple pie, and Claudia, no baker, is annoyed by the request. At work she is told to help a corporate client overturn an injunction so the company can tear down a park and put up a large development, and because the hearing falls the day after Thanksgiving, she orders her staff to work through the holiday. Claudia then meets Gina, an older woman who intends to teach her some moral lessons and places her in another version of her life, where she is a married stay-at-home mother of two who drives a minivan.
