Plot summary

Finley Tremaine lives on the Idaho farm her late father built, doing chores for her stepmother Valerian and her step-siblings Kale and Saffron, who send her to sleep in the cold barn. She dreams of becoming an actress. When the actor Jackson Stone comes to Dreary to shoot a musical about Billy the Kid, the family plans to audition. Sent to the butcher with her pet pig, Jon Ham, Finley takes the pig to the veterinarian instead and goes to the audition, where she sings, plays guitar and swings a lasso until Jon Ham breaks loose and drags her through the mud. Jackson helps her up and Trevor, the director, orders her to leave.
