Plot summary

Endymion, a space elevator, is nearly finished in Academy City when Touma Kamijou and Index meet Arisa Meigo, a Level 0 esper whose singing voice catches their attention. Arisa learns she passed an audition to become the campaign girl for the elevator. That night, Stiyl Magnus and the witches Marie Spearhead, Mallybath Blackball and Jane Elves attack her. The Black Crow Unit, a private security force led by Shutaura Sequenzia, fights them off, and Kaori Kanzaki helps drive them away. Before leaving, they tell Touma that Arisa could start a war between magic and science. Shutaura warns Touma to stay away from Arisa. He invites her to stay at his dorm until her performance.

The voice cast of A Certain Magical Index: The Movie – The Miracle of Endymion finished all of their voice work in a single day, with the recording session running fifteen hours.
Producer Nobuhiro Nakayama revealed that the film was only completed a week before it opened in Japanese theaters in February 2013.
Hiroshi Nishikiori revealed that Sachika Misawa was chosen to voice the new character Arisa Meigo because they needed someone who could act and sing at the same time.
The film used 3D computer graphics for its mecha battles, live scenes and even background art such as Kamijo's apartment that had been drawn by hand before, a choice Nishikiori said created a sense of scale and theatricality with limited resources.
Kazuma Kamachi wrote a light novel tie-in, A Certain Magical Index: Road to Endymion, that was given to the first 103,000 people who saw the film on its opening day.
