Plot summary
Twenty-year-old Marie Deschamps leaves college in Quebec against her parents' wishes, planning to travel across Canada and improve her English. Her arrival in the West is less glorious than she dreamed. She reaches Whistler, British Columbia, and her luggage is stolen. A Quebecois skier named Jean-François Laforest, who has lived on the West Coast for ten years, takes her in and shares his home with his ex-girlfriend Gaby and their friend Brad. Jean-François introduces Marie to his English-speaking friends and to the mountain lifestyle, and she meets other young people who, like her, are unsure what to do with their lives.
