Plot summary
In Romania, an army blast opens the crypt of the Dracula family, and a guard who pries a wooden stake from a dog's body brings Zoltan back to life. The vampiric Doberman then frees his master, the innkeeper Veidt Smith. A flashback to 1670 shows how it began: the innkeeper's dog saved a sleeping woman from Count Igor Dracula, so the count bit the dog and turned it into a vampire, and made the innkeeper a fractional lamia, able to walk by day and serve as a slave. In the present, the last mortal of Dracula's line is Michael Drake, a psychiatrist in Los Angeles. He takes his wife Marla and their children on vacation in a camper, while Zoltan and Smith ship themselves to California to claim him as their new master.
