Plot summary
Mahi, a wealthy orphan, is kept in servitude by her relatives after her grandfather's death, and they mean to take her inheritance by staging her abduction. The thief Raja, who met her once as a boy and still has the locket she gave him, pulls her out of the kidnapping and hides her, then bargains with her uncles over a ransom, while Mahi, unaware of why he took her in, falls in love with him. Raja works with his partner Sathi and owes the moneylender Dhanalakshmi a large sum. The uncles turn to the gangster Narayana, and Raja's soul reaches Yamalok, where Yama, the god of death, holds authority over the dead.
