Plot summary
The painting of Chandramukhi, also known as Nagavalli, comes into the Tirupathi household of the Rao family as a prize won by the dancer Gayathri. Gayathri's sister Geetha copies the portrait as part of her painting hobby; the house also holds Gayathri's parents, Shankar Rao and Parvathi, her sister Gowri, and her maternal uncle Appa Rao with his wife and daughters. On Gowri's wedding day a friend faints at the sight of a huge snake, and the superstitious bridegroom calls the wedding off. Odd experiences trouble the family, and they blame the portrait. They contact Acharya Ramachandra, who brings in Dr. Vijay, a psychiatrist. The Acharya recognizes the painting as the one that surfaced from Ganga's house, where he and Vijay's mentor once faced the same problem.
