Plot summary
Wanda is the mother of a liberal patchwork family in Vienna, and her teenage daughter Nina arrives home in a hijab. Nina has converted without telling her, eats only halal, keeps the prayer times strictly and asks to be called Fatima. Wanda, who has always opposed religious fanaticism, is appalled, and every attempt she makes to bring her daughter back to reason fails. Her former husband has just had a child with his new wife, and Wanda longs for the time when her worries were only Nina's skipping school and smoking pot. Then she finds an ally in Hanife, the mother of Nina's girlfriend, who is Muslim. Hanife came to Austria as a child and wants to keep her own daughter from the very old-fashioned picture of women that Nina preaches.
