Plot summary
Overpopulation has pushed the European Federation to a one-child policy enforced by its Child Allocation Bureau, which puts any illegal child it finds into cryosleep. After his daughter dies in childbirth, Terrence Settman raises his seven identical granddaughters in secret. He names each one for a day of the week and trains them all to share one public identity, Karen Settman. Each sister may go outside only on the day matching her name. When Monday does not come home from work, the others have to find her without exposing their shared life.
