Plot summary
Makoto Sato is 46 in 2020 when a Facebook friend request pulls him back through his past relationships. In 1995 he joined the video industry and put in long hours, hoping to be noticed by Kaori Kato, who disliked anything ordinary. On a night out, a friend tells him that the world's happiest one percent are happy only because they are ignorant, and Makoto begins to think about his own life. His memory moves through friends and former partners, among them Megumi Ishida and Sue, whom he meets at a pub run by Toshihiko Nanase. At a party marking the end of a long-running program, whose host is Mitsuo Oguro, he tells a performer that he made graphics for it, and they share his hotel room.
