Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Water Wars was Cirio H. Santiago's last film: the director fell ill and died during filming in 2008, and executive producer Roger Corman replaced him with Jim Wynorski, though the movie took a number of years to be completed and released.
- Michael Madsen took the role in part due to a recommendation from Quentin Tarantino that the actor should work with Santiago.
- The film used elements and footage from earlier Santiago films such as Stryker and Wheels of Fire, to the point that it has been called a remake of the first of those.
