Plot summary
In twelve episodes, each introduced by an intertitle, Nana Kleinfrankenheim tries to live on her own in Paris. She has left her husband Paul and their baby son, hoping to become an actress, and she works in a record store. The wages do not cover her rent, her coworkers turn down her request for a loan of 2,000 francs, and her landlady evicts her from her apartment. She meets Paul in a café, where they play pinball together. The following day he hands her photographs of her son. A screening of La passion de Jeanne d'Arc reduces her to tears. A man who promised her photographs to promote her career asks her to undress, and she does so reluctantly.
