Plot summary

The film is a stop-motion short in stark black and white, and its story is told in rhyming verse. Vincent Malloy is a polite 7-year-old with one ambition: to become like the actor he worships. He loses himself in macabre daydreams drawn from that actor's movies and from the tales of Edgar Allan Poe, and his reading carries him away from the world around him, so that he sees himself as a tortured artist and a mad scientist. At home he performs strange experiments on his dog Abercrombie, hoping to turn the animal into a ravenous zombie dog. His mother has little patience for the boy's imagined world.
