Plot summary
Lucien is a demon who came to Earth over 350 years ago and has grown to dislike humans. He sells used books, the thing he loves most, in a store that shares its floor with a car dealership, and the salesmen there bother him constantly. His psychologist is about the only person he talks to. Then the dealership's owner, Sylvie, announces the company is close to bankruptcy and has a solution: Lucien will take on an assistant. Daniel is young and eager, and Lucien, who would rather keep the store to himself, wants nothing to do with him. The two are pulled into a hunt for a stolen shipment of rare books, with the Great Book Police and its angel leader also on the trail.
