Plot summary
After Audrey's death, John Munn lives with his sons Chris and Tim on a pig farm in Drees County, Georgia, and the three keep to themselves. Chris, a teenager, is repeatedly picked up by the police, and because Tim is young and ailing, much of the farm work falls to his older brother. The grandparents on their mother's side stay away, at odds with John. Then Deel Munn arrives, John's brother, newly released from prison, whose existence the boys never knew of. John puts aside years of distance to welcome him and to let his sons know one of their few relations. Deel, though, has come for reasons of his own.
