Plot summary
Casey Sheppard's SEAL team raids a dock to seize a high-value target and a manifest of stolen cargo. Ratliff, a teammate, kills the captive during the fight, the mission collapses, and the two men return to base. Months later Ratliff resurfaces as a renegade who abducts Dr. Jane Burrows, a scientist capable of building nuclear warheads, from an Army base and demands a billion dollars in ransom. Donner asks Admiral Patterson to lend him the SEALs. Casey, now a civilian, is recalled and briefed: the island holding Burrows is covered in methane gas, so no guns and no explosives. He recruits former teammates, a mercenary and an imprisoned fighter, and Kimiko, the sensei's daughter, joins the group.
