Plot summary
Back in his parents' home in Brooklyn after a broken engagement, Leonard Kraditor takes photographs and helps out at the family dry cleaners. His mother Ruth and father Reuben know he has tried to kill himself before, and the engagement ended because he and his former fiancée both carry a gene that would keep them from having healthy children. His parents introduce him to Sandra Cohen, a business associate's daughter, who asks about his photography. Not long after, he meets his new neighbor Michelle Rausch, who is involved with Ronald Blatt, a married man, and who leans on Leonard when she is upset. Sandra wants to save him.
