Plot summary
A fault in the Indian Ocean ruptures on December 26, 2004, producing a magnitude 9.1 earthquake. The wave that follows kills more than 230,000 people. On March 11, 2011, a second giant wave reaches Honshu and floods the Fukushima plant, killing 20,000 people and causing a nuclear disaster. Since those events, researchers worldwide have been studying the mechanics of tsunamis, and their work shows that a devastating wave can strike wherever one struck before. With access in Palu, Indonesia, the UN's team of tsunami hunters examines where tsunamis strike, how they submerge people, and what can be done to survive them.
