Plot summary
Six migrants whom Pierrot has been hiding in Paris travel with him to the South-West of France, to the home of his friend Antoine, who is already hosting Emile. Emile is in the middle of winning back the love of Berthe Goitreux. The refugees are looking forward to calm and comfort in the French countryside. The village greets them with its legendary hospitality. Their arrival in the village stirs the fears and prejudices of Sophie and of the three friends, Pierrot, Emile and Antoine, who end up as unexpected advisers in an electoral campaign led by the mayor of Montcoeur, Larquebuse.
