Plot summary
The story draws on real events and takes place in 1996 on the open sea. Joel is a religious Filipino sailor aboard a transatlantic ship, and during his shift on deck he finds Dumitru, a Romanian stowaway concealed among the containers. Taiwanese officers command the vessel, and a stowaway they discover is at risk of being thrown overboard. Out of gratitude toward God, Joel chooses to hide Dumitru instead. None of the other sailors know about the man hidden in the containers, and keeping him out of sight sets off a dangerous game of cat and mouse aboard the ship.
