Plot summary
The funeral of a prominent local judge, known in his town as a womanizer, brings his son Andrei, a young lawyer, back home. His death was recorded as an accident, yet the circumstances trouble him, and he opens an investigation of his own. His insistence pushes him into conflict with his young stepmother and disturbs the local legal community, the people who were close to the judge on his last night and who now say little about it. A chance meeting with a high school sweetheart draws Andrei back into an old attachment and further into the affairs of the town.
