Plot summary
Yoko works as the reporter on a television travel program, and the job brings her to Uzbekistan with a crew to make an episode. She dreams of becoming a singer instead. On camera she is upbeat; on her own she is cautious and insular, and the trip tests that side of her. Among the shoots, she wades into a lake to describe her search for a fish that may be mythical, praises the crunch of undercooked rice in a bowl of plov, and rides a fun-park pendulum again and again so the crew can collect footage of her face. She and the crew also visit Samarkand and Tashkent.
