Plot summary
A crash five years ago shattered the Kubo household. Mayuko, the mother, has been in a coma since then, and her husband Shiro walks with a limp. The younger daughter, Luna, was burned and now wears a mask over her face. Hana, who was unhurt, has stayed away from school. She befriends Jun Yotsui, a high school boy whose own mother lost the ability to speak, and he is looking into the other people in the city who have lost their speech and their ability to walk. Then Shiro brings home a woman he says is Mayuko, woken from her coma. Luna accepts her at once. Hana does not: the woman's face is not the one she remembers.
