Plot summary
Augusto, Carlo and Roberto run small scams across the countryside outside Rome. Dressed as clerics, they take savings from poor farmers, and in the shanty towns they pose as officials collecting deposits for apartments. The money goes on cars, champagne and nights in clubs. Carlo, nicknamed Picasso for his painting ambitions, tells his wife Iris that his absences are sales trips, though she has her doubts. Roberto, the youngest, spends whatever comes his way. Augusto, divorced and the oldest of the three, drifts toward the same pleasures until he meets Patrizia, his teenage daughter, who has grown up without him and now needs help paying for her studies.
