Plot summary
A documentary account of the K2 disaster of August 2008. Climbers from several teams set out for the top of the mountain, and eleven of them died within a short span. Much of the footage came from Fredrik Sträng, a Swedish mountaineer whose own attempt stopped short of the summit; other climbers shot material too. Their stories of what happened do not agree. Those accounts are combined with dramatized recreations of the events, filmed in Switzerland in March 2011 on the Eiger north face and the Jungfraujoch glacier. Pemba Gyalje Sherpa, who was on K2 that August, and other climbers who were there took part in the recreations.
