Plot summary
A wounded bank robber, Harry Spikes, is found near death by Wil Young, Tod Hayhew and Les Richter, three lifelong friends who nurse him back to health. When he is healed he leaves, saying he will not forget their kindness, and the boys take no payment for their efforts. His stories of the outlaw life stay with them. After his father Abel beats him, Wil runs off in search of excitement and easy living, and Tod and Les follow. Hungry and despondent in a Texas town, the three attempt to rob a bank. The attempt fails, and they turn to Spikes and ask him to show them the outlaw trade.
