Plot summary
Underground atomic tests drive a race of subterranean reptile-men from their homes, and they come to the surface with a machine that raises a barrier of solidified fog around Los Angeles. Pilot Tom Gregory lands in the city after flight difficulties and finds the streets almost empty. He meets Cal Johnson, a Marine separated from his unit, and Prof. Galbraith with his daughters Lisa and Bonnie, along with Norman Tolliver. The reptile-men are covered in slime, which gives them the name slime people. The survivors look for a way to halt the invasion and get out of a city cut off from the outside.
