Plot summary
In Keijō in 1938, a sickly girl named Ju-ran is sent to a sanatorium boarding school so that she can recover her health. The school gives her a new name, Shizuko. Her condition improves, helped by a classmate named Yeon-deok and by the headmistress' special treatment program. Then girls in her class begin to disappear one after another, and the school reports that they have gone home. Ju-ran also notices changes in her own body that she cannot explain. She starts to investigate what is happening at the school and what part it plays in the disappearances, while the staff deny that anything unusual is going on.
