Plot summary
A wealthy Korean American family calls in the shaman Lee Hwa-rim and her protégé Yoon Bong-gil because its newborn son has fallen ill. Hwa-rim identifies the cause as a Grave's Call, the spirit of a vengeful ancestor. The patriarch, Park Ji-yong, wants the grave of his grandfather moved to appease that spirit, and Hwa-rim brings in Kim Sang-duk, a feng shui master and geomancer, and the mortician Ko Young-geun, with a fee of 500,000 dollars. Sang-duk needs the money for his daughter's wedding. The grave lies on a mountain close to the border with North Korea, and Ji-yong insists on cremation. Sang-duk, uneasy about the place, refuses the job until Ji-yong doubles the payment, and Hwa-rim offers to perform a ritual while the ground is opened.
