Plot summary
Gumby and his friends are making a dinosaur movie on a film set, and their Tyrannosaurus rex, Arnie, will not act ferocious for the camera. Pressed on why, Arnie explains that he was ferocious long ago, until George Pal's influence changed him. Gumby does not see what Pal's work amounts to, so Arnie and Pokey put on a run of Pal's Puppetoons, the stop-motion shorts he made in the 1930s and 1940s through replacement animation. The shorts unspool for Gumby one after another, drawn from the years 1934 to 1947. The Academy gave Pal a Special Oscar in 1944 for the techniques behind the Puppetoons.
