Plot summary

Chen Xin, a wealthy businessman, is dead, and the college professor Xia Wei is accused of killing him. Two rival procurators take up the case. Ye Xiaohuan, a student of Xia Wei, was raped three months before, and Chen Xin is involved in that rape. In the courtroom Xia Wei says nothing at all about what happened. The procurator Li Rui opens the arguments, tying those involved to the criminal underworld in the Liucheng District, to a tomb robbery three decades old at the Tang Dynasty Empress Tomb, and to Mayor Yan Zhitian. The procurators looking into the businessman's death find a shady deal behind it.
