Plot summary

In three parts, Slavoj Zizek takes scenes from well-known movies as illustrations of psychoanalytic ideas. A philosopher and psychoanalyst, he discusses desire and sexuality, fantasy and reality, and personal subjectivity, and asks what movies can tell people about themselves. The examples range from The Wizard of Oz and Psycho to The Matrix and Mulholland Drive, and the production places him in original locations and in replica sets so that he appears to speak from inside the films themselves. His stated aim is to make a line of thought clear by illustrating it with a scene.
