Plot summary
Three women and four men sit down to dinner together: Eva, Bianca, Carlotta, Rocco, Leo, Simon and Pepe. Someone proposes a game. All seven phones go in the middle of the table, and every message or photo that arrives is shared with the group. Phone calls are answered on the loudspeaker so that everyone can hear. The game is meant to add a little drama to an ordinary dinner, but embarrassing situations follow, and the relationships around the table are at risk.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Perfect Secret (2019)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Rocco and Eva's Munich apartment, the film's main set, was built on a stage in Studio 12 of the Bavaria Filmstudios; plans to shoot in a real old building were dropped because no flat of the needed size was available in the Munich area.
- Bora Dagtekin shot the film largely in chronological order and staged it like a theatre play, with rehearsals of 40 to 80 minutes at the start of each shooting day to support the cast.
- Producer Lena Schömann called coordinating the sought-after cast's shooting schedules her biggest challenge: because all seven leads had to be on set every day for the chamber play, blocking periods for other projects were almost impossible.
- Unlike Fack ju Göhte, Dagtekin chose not to show incoming text or WhatsApp messages on screen, so that viewers, like the characters, can only guess from the readers' reactions what is on the display.
- Dagtekin's film was shortlisted for the 2020 German Film Prize but missed out on a regular nomination; it was nonetheless awarded the special prize as the film with the most visitors.
- The blood moon that appears during the story is real footage: the images come from recordings of the lunar eclipse of 27 July 2018.
