Plot summary
Diogo is seventeen. His mother is a therapist, and for a while now he has been calling the women she treats. He keeps quiet on his end, masturbates, and listens to their voices. Ângela is forty-three and has just been left by her husband. When one of Diogo's calls reaches her, she believes her husband is on the line and starts a relationship with the silence that answers her. It is the only call she receives each day, and she does not know who is making it. Diogo goes on telephoning her. Between them lie the age difference, his mother, and his own way toward adulthood.
